Welcome to the 2016 Croaker Festival

Welcome to the 2016 Croaker Festival

“Embrace Your Volunteer Spirit” is the theme for the 2016 Croaker Fes tival happening July 1,2,3 in Oriental, NC. I am proud to say that our town overflows with people that come from different backgrounds and offer a world of life experiences but all have one thing in common; their willingness to share their time and talents without compensation to help others and to improve the community. Their generosity of spirit, warmth of heart, compassion and caring is beyond compare. It is all of you that we celebrate! Thank You for Volunteering!

The Croaker Crew would like to welcome you to the 36th Annual Pamlico County Croaker Festival where this year we honor the 100th anniversary of the Oriental Women’s Club. This long standing organization embodies the true spirit of volunteering. Lots of Family Fun will fill the Festival Grounds. On Friday evening enjoy the Opening Cereminies beginning with the firing of the ceremonial cannon then featuring the Pamlico County Chorale and the Pamlico County Community Band. This is followed by the Miss Minnow and Croaker Queen Pageant and to top things off, put on your dancing shoes and dance away at the Street Dance with Hard Livin. On Saturday the Parade strolls down Broad Street, Hodges Street, and makes it’s way to the Festival grounds. Over 50 vendors will be selling their wears. Enjoy Live music on the Main stage under a tented pavilion. The Kid’s Park and Heartwork’s Carnival complete with Bounce Houses, a Giant Slide and rides including the Pirates Revenge and Boomerang and not to mention a variety of Food and Drink(non-alcoholic). Visit the Non Profit Area and relax under the shade of the old oak trees at the food court area near the Main Stage. Make plans to stay at the festival Saturday to enjoy a second Street Dance with music provided by “The Bryan Mayer Band” from 7 til 9. Then to end the night, experience a magnificent display of Fireworks over Oriental Harbor! On Sunday join in the Community Service at Lou Mac Park beginning at 10. New to this year’s festival at 2 pm under the pavilion will be an ole fashion gospel sing.

The Croaker Festival goes “Green” remember to recycle and use the trash cans provided throughout the park. Safety is our utmost concern, there will be a first aid tent located near the main stage and food court, however, should a serious event happen please dial 911. Parking is always difficult throughout our town. Please be courteous and respectful to our town resident’s property and adhere to parking signs and speed limit signs posted. We would like to take this opportunity to shout out a big “Thank You” to the Residents and Businesses in the Town of Oriental for their continued support of the Festival. Take time while you are in town to visit the local businesses to see what they offer.

Whether you’re a local or come from afar we sincerely hope that your Croaker Festival experience will be enjoyable for the entire family?
